Making wine in the Marès family is as much an art as it is a traditon. Back in the 18th century, the Marès family looked after its vineyard near Montpellier. Cyril Marès is carrying on that tradition on the estate created by Roger Marès, a tradition so brilliantly illustrated by Henri Marès (1820-1901), who discovered that grey rot, the scourge of the vine, could be treated using sulphur.
35 years ago, Roger Marès and his father, also called Henri Marès (1903-1994) created the vineyard of Château Puy Castéra in the Haut Médoc, which is currently run by Alix Marès. And he was a pioneer in applying the Bordeaux methods in the south of France. The vinification process benefits from all the best techniques placed at the service of the traditional methods: destemming of the harvest, fermentation in stainless-steel or concrete vats, temperature control, air-conditioned winery and maturing in oak barrels. An attentive approach that gives the wines of Mas des Bressades that personal touch.
After studying agronomy, winegrowing and oenology in Montpellier Cyril Marès set out to experience making wines on other continents before taking over the estate in 1996.

Cyril Marès, a winegrower in MANDUEL and a serial award-winner
Cyril Marès, winegrower, 34 years old, has been at Mas Des Bressades in MANDUEL, since 1996. This 25-hectare estate, created by his father Roger in 1995, has built up quite a collection of medals for the wines of the Costières de Nîmes AOC.
Cyril Marès produces AOC wines, as well as a well-known and much-appreciated "Cabernet Syrah" Vin de Pays. It is made in accordance with an old Bordeaux tradition consisting in adding Syrah from Tain-L'Hermitage into the vats of Cabernet.
The wines of Mas des Bressades have earned themselves great success in France and abroad. They are made up of two ranges:
 The Cuvées Excellence (Red, white and Cabernet Syrah) matured in oak barrels
The Cuvées Tradition (Red, rosé and blanc) matured in vats. |
